I just arrived home from a fantastic week in Mobile at the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation's Biennial Conference. I presented my work involving the deposition of debris on nearby Goleta Beach and tracing this terrestrial material in nearshore marine sediment using lignin phenols as a biomarker. As a first-time attendee, I also participated in their mentorship and networking programs, where I had the chance to meet lots of friendly fellow coastal biogeochemists :) Needless to say, I will definitely be back for CERF 2021 in Richmond, VA - thanks for welcoming me with open arms CERF!
